Installing
Browser edition
Nothing to install: open https://games.theiguru.au/sengoku/ in a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Keyboard, mouse and touch all work. The music starts at the first key press or click, because browsers require that. F, or the button at the top right of the page, shows the game full screen.
Windows
- Download
Sengoku-1.2.0-x64.msifrom https://games.theiguru.au/sengoku/desktop/ and run it. It installs for your user only, so no administrator password is needed, and adds Sengoku to the Start menu and the desktop. - The installer is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you first: choose More info, then Run anyway.
The Windows edition is built and tested under Wine. If something doesn't work on your Windows PC, please say so (see Contact).
To upgrade, run the new installer: it replaces the old version and keeps your saves. To remove it, use Settings > Apps.
Linux
- Download
sengoku_1.2.0_amd64.deband install it:sudo apt install ./sengoku_1.2.0_amd64.deb
- Start it from the Games menu, or run
sengoku.
The package is for 64-bit Debian, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint and other Debian-based systems. Installing a newer package upgrades the old one.
On Linux the music plays through pw-play, paplay or aplay, whichever is installed. Set SENGOKU_MUTE=1 to start without sound.
Checking a download
The downloads page shows the SHA-256 checksum of each file, and SHA256SUMS on the BBS lists them all. On Linux:
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing
